The Spanish soprano Carmen Callejas began her vocal studies in her hometown, Granada. In 2023, she completed her Bachelor’s degree with a major in voice with Professors Geert Smits and Mark Tucker at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater. She is currently finishing a Master’s degree in Early Music Singing at the Bremen University of the Arts with Bettina Pahn, as well as a Master’s in Advanced Ensemble Studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Her experience as a soloist includes roles such as Belinda (Dido and Aeneas, Theater am Goethe Platz), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Venus (Il Ballo delle Ingrate). Carmen regularly performs as a guest of the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, after having been an academist there during the 2021/22 season, as well as with the Spanish ensemble Cantorèia. She also is a member of Sulayr Duo together with the pianist Juan Elvira Márquez. She has received awards from Neustart Kultur Deutschland, the Deutsche Orchester-Stiftung, the Early Music Competition of the UdK Berlin and the Ulysses Foundation among others.
